My Pros:

  • The presentation side of the game does a wonderful job of creating terror and both the visuals and sound design make the zombie action both exhilarating and frightening.
  • Playing with your friends or random people is an incredible amount of fun and the teamwork elements make defeating zombies very satisfying.
  • I found the different guns and the shooting elements to definitely pack a punch and each gun feels important in its own right because of this.
  • There's a decent variety of zombies you have to face when in game and each one poses a fresh challenge which keeps things interesting and exciting throughout.
  • Whilst the levels in the game aren't huge I found the level design gave the game a lot of charm and traversing around them always felt intense and rewarding.

My Cons:

  • I have had to deal with a few technical issues from time to time and the online component of the game is not without its problems.
  • In terms of content there isn't a lot at the moment so I hope they add a lot more as the months progress because their core idea is fantastic.

My final evaluation on World War Z:

All in all whilst I can see similarities of Left 4 Dead present in World War Z I wouldn't exactly call it a clone because it does feel unique in its own right and to say I enjoyed slaying huge amounts of zombies in this game would be a massive understatement. From the moment I started this game then I was hooked because it features a presentation that can be simply terrifying at times and the immersiveness that's created from both the visuals and sound design is off the charts. Something else that's off the charts are the shooting elements that are present because I'm not exaggerating when I say that every zombie kill was very satisfying thanks to the decent weapons on offer. Finding a zombie to use these weapons on isn't a problem either because there's many you'll come across and I must admit that I was impressed with the variety of zombies you have to tackle because they all pose a different challenge. In terms of content there isn't a great deal for now but if you're playing with friends or random people then this won't pose much of a problem for you because each level feels exhilarating to play from start to finish. You will however have to deal with a few technical issues every now and then and the online components can sometimes throw up a problem or two every now and then as well but thankfully I was able to look past these issues in the end. At the end of the day then if you're a fan of zombie games then World War Z is a must buy because it puts you in a position where teamwork is a must and it makes killing zombies both tactical and fun and in my opinion this makes the future of this game bright and I can't wait to watch it grow over the coming months.

My score for World War Z is 8.5/10.
