My Pros:

• The presentation side of the game does a good job of delivering a relaxing experience and I did enjoy both the visuals and sound design because of this.
• Whilst the puzzles weren’t very challenging I found the variety within them made me want to carry on and complete them all in one go.
• There’s a decent amount of different mechanics that get delivered to you as you progress and this did make the gameplay stay fresh a little bit longer.
• It is a little on the short side but I think the amount of content in this game is perfect because you tend to find games of this ilk do overstay their welcome.

My Cons:

• Playing the puzzles on the easy or hard difficulty didn’t really feel any different which is shame because I wanted to be challenged more.
• Once completed the game doesn’t give you any reason to return back to it at all so in terms of replayability there isn’t any.
• Progressing through the menu is very awkward to say the least and getting to the level you want to be on is way more frustrating than it should be.
• As far as the puzzle genre goes there isn’t really anything present in this game to make it stand out above the rest.

My final evaluation on Hexologic:

All in all when I was at school maths was one of my favourite subjects and thankfully I was actually quite good at it. As I’ve gotten older though my ability in terms of maths seems to have dwindled so I was hoping that Hexologic which is a puzzle game featuring a maths formula would help me out a little bit, and to an extent it did. I did however find the puzzles to be a little on the easy side and I also found this to be the case even on the highest difficulty setting. Thankfully this didn’t stop me from wanting to play the game and I’m glad it didn’t because whilst being on the easy side I found the puzzles to have a decent amount of variety within them. I think the main reason then why there was quite a bit of variety was thanks to the different mechanics the game introduces along the way and this in my opinion did keep things fresh that little bit longer. Once you complete the game though there is no reason for you to return back to it so if you’re looking for a game that features replayability you won’t find it here. You’ll also not find anything here that makes this game stand out above the many other puzzle games that are available to you even though both the visuals and sound design are unique from time to time. At the end of the day then Hexologic isn’t a bad puzzle game but it definitely isn’t for everyone and it does have certain things wrong with it that hold it back a little. That being said Hexologic probably does just enough to get a small recommendation from me just don’t expect too much from it otherwise you’ll be left a little disappointed.
